Waste Gas Testing
Contact us – Let us be your gas service professionals.
Waste anesthetic gases are tiny volumes of volatile anesthetic gases that escape into the operating room air during anesthesia delivery from the patient’s anesthetic breathing circuit. Patients recovering from anesthesia may also emit these gases. Nitrous oxide and halogenated anesthetics such as halothane, enflurane, isoflurane, desflurane, sevoflurane, and methoxyflurane are examples of waste anesthetic gases. Halogenated anesthetics are frequently used in conjunction with nitrous oxide. Unfortunately, nitrous oxide and various halogenated anesthetics may endanger hospital employees. Therefore, Mountain Medical Gas LLC performs annual testing at all Anesthetizing locations to verify a safe work environment for the OR staff and documents levels of waste anesthetic gas in the anesthetist work zone. These tests meet the standards set forth by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), The Joint Commission (TJC) and other regulatory agencies. Mountain Medical Gas, LLC is performs these tests by way of the “Real-Time Sampling” method in a simulated procedure at all your anesthetizing locations. See link: www.osha.gov/waste-anesthetic-gases
